The pristine precincts of Betul provide the solemn backdrop for this colonial mansion converted into an enchanting non-hotel hotel.
This Goan holiday, I chose a Portuguese home with colonial charm converted into a heritage hotel for a calm and composed holiday. My idea was to rejuvenate myself in the midst of nature away from the hullabaloo of city life. Neemrana Hotels Group’s Three Waters property in South Goa’s Betul district fitted right into my requirement.
Located in a fishermen’s village which still pride in their conventional fishing techniques, this property offers cosy and comfy stay in an intimate setting.
The property overlooks the Sal river which flows into the Arabian Sea shimmering in the distance and a sweet water spring nearby known for its restorative properties. On the other side is a a mini forest and in the centre is a picturesque courtyard replete with lush greenery that could easily remind one of a fairy-tale cottage. On the rear side is a swimming pool surrounded by cornucopia of trees that is a perfect getaway to unwind from daily grit.
Its not just about the cute property, the food here is awesome, too. With varieties of cuisines like North Indian, South Indian , Italian and traditional Goan dishes, one is spoilt for choices. The restaurant ‘Sea Horse’ overlooks the Betul river with indoor and outdoor seating. The lobby which merges with the dining space is a mini museum of over 9000 shells from the personal collection of owner Victor Golmes from different parts of the world. The corals, shells and fossils are in different shapes, colours and sizes (with the largest one as long as 30 cms.) Organised beautifully in layers of shelves in neatly stacked showcases, these provide a cute backdrop to the dining space.
Nine rooms offer cosy, stay with premium views of Betul River or the tropical forest or open into the gorgeous courtyard. Personalised service, attention to detail and warm and friendly service are hallmarks of Neemrana Three Waters hospitality.
Its not that you don’t have much to do in this area. Grab a cycle (from the hotel) and discover the nearby beach. The hotel is happy to drive you to a nearby sunset point (almost 2 kms away) where on a perchy hilltop, you can enjoy the most spectacular sunsets and the waves playing their magic and if you are adventurous enough, take a hike down the hillock to find yourself in one of Goa’s most secluded and serene beaches. If you love fishing, you are welcome to try your luck with some fresh catch for dinner.
If you are looking for a peaceful property in Goa with a heritage vibe in the midst of natural surroundings with exceptional service and delectable food , then Neemrana Three Waters is the perfect fit.
