At the Taj Palace in New Delhi, the designer tore up the traditional runway format and introduced India’s first-ever Couture Party, a night where couture, music, and celebration collided.
The evening was a study in how Malhotra continues to stay ahead of the curve. Rather than guests sitting in silence awaiting a runway, they were drawn into an immersive, living showcase, with models gliding through the crowd in his newest collection, INAYA, as the party pulsed around them. The evening also had a curated presentation of archival masterpieces including the ensembles worn at The MET Gala, celebrating the legacy of Manish Malhotra through treasured ensembles and iconic creations. From the iconic Bollywood movie costumes that defined eras to this year’s MET Gala looks that captivated global audiences, the exhibit offered a rare glimpse into the designer’s creative evolution. This legacy was further complemented by a striking display from Manish Malhotra High Jewellery, featuring signature pieces such as regal brooches, heirloom jhumkas, statement haathphools and more, each one reflecting craftsmanship, heritage and enduring style.
Draped in light. Laced in legacy. INAYA was born, quite literally, at home, a collection first sketched out by Malhotra during quiet evenings, imagining a new language for cocktail couture. The result? A line that redefines after-dark dressing for the modern woman. Think swirl skirts with hypnotic movement, fluidly draped cocktail saris with crystal pallus, a new trend forecasted by Manish Malhotra himself, sculpted embellished tops, and contoured gowns that feel as effortless as they are magnetic. For men, INAYA presented a sharper spin on eveningwear, with sleek sculpted tuxedos, cropped bandhgalas, and sharply tailored suits that redefine formal dressing for today. The looks were complimented by ManishMalhotra High Jewellery. From cascading necklaces to sculptural brooches, signature collar pins and statement earrings, the High Jewellery added a layer of timeless glamour to the collection.
At the centre of it all was global fashion icon Alessandra Ambrosio, the official muse of the evening. For her first-ever collaboration with an Indian designer, the Brazilian supermodel celebrated for her legendary career with Victoria’s Secret, luxury campaigns, and international runway dominance, made a commanding debut at the INAYA showcase. Her first look, The Lady Crystal Diamond, was a bespoke creation by Manish Malhotra that seamlessly bridged Indian craftsmanship with global glamour. Featuring crystal embroidery and structured draping, the ensemble shimmered with restrained opulence, capturing the spirit of the evening and cementing its place as the most talked-about couture moment of the season. For her second appearance, Ambrosio unveiled The Pearl Story, an evolution of the couture house’s signature pearl ensembles following iconic looks worn by Adriana Lima and Coco Jones. She wore a structured crinoline skirt paired with a layered tulle corset, both drenched in cascading pearls and sequins. The ensemble was a striking continuation of Manish Malhotra’s vision of sculptural femininity, reimagined with international glamour.
Adding to the night’s pulse was a line-up of all-women performers, a Malhotra first. Jonita Gandhi’s soulful vocals, DJ Kayan’s signature beats, and Lush Lata’s experimental soundscapes kept the energy electric, turning the couture unveiling into an all-sensory, women-led celebration.
